John Sha was born in Queens and raised in the Lower East Side. Artist, family man, sneakerhead are a couple of words you could use to describe him. None capture his eclectic nature and spontaneous style, but it can be heard in his music. A blues like southern crooning voice matched with metaphorical hip-hop sum up the dimensions you’ll find with every listen.

John Sha has been making music since the age of 8, to cope with his mom often leaving to take care of his late sister. Writing is a soothing practice he uses to escape and express his rage or confess his true feelings. Sha as a child represented his school in New York State wide Scrabble tournament. A few years later he was a member of a notorious gang in downtown Manhattan. He credits both the boroughs of Queens and Manhattan to molding his view on life.

In recent years John Sha has been featured on blogs like HipHopDX, HipHopWired, and DJBooth. In addition to making music, he utilizes a passion for design to create stickers and hats. His main goal is to make music he himself would have listened to as a child and collaborate with artists of all genres.

Be on the lookout for John Sha at art galleries, graffiti shows, and hip-hop events in the tri-state area.
